P90X Plyometrics Lunges

P90X Plyometrics Lunges

I just completed day 16 of my P90X workout. Today was P90X Plyometrics, and it kicked my butt again! My wife did the workout with me today so that made the workout more fun. Having her do the workout with me made me want to push even harder. I didn’t want her to show me up like she did on P90X day 10 during Ab Ripper X!

P90X Plyometrics is just a really tough workout that never seems to get easier. The squats always destroy my legs. My legs get really tired even during the warm-up towards the end of the Deep Prayer Squats. My wife and I actually made it pretty far until we had to pause the P90X DVD for an extended break (well at least farther than usual for me). I think we paused it around the Jump Knee Tuck exercise. We paused the P90X DVD once more around the Squat Jack exercise. This workout killed both of us, so I’m really not sure who did better. COUGH! COUmeGH! :-) I’m sure she’ll tell you otherwise.

Well, even though this workout is super hard and very challenging, I always feel great after it’s over. It’s an awesome cardio workout and I know I’m burning a ton of calories. I wish I had one of those devices that measures how many calories you burn, because it would be interesting to know how many I actually burn during Plyometrics.

Nutrition for today-

Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.

Mid-Morning: Protein shake.

Lunch: Turkey sandwich with lettuce, provolone cheese, and extra virgin olive oil dressing. Also had a protein shake.

Mid-Afternoon: Had a protein shake.

Dinner: Peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwich (it was made with splenda, so no sugar).

After-Dinner: Protein shake.

I know, I know, my diet is really boring! I’m not much of a cook, so my wife and I tend to eat the same thing over and over again! She can cook really good, but she works longer hours away from home so I tend do a lot of the cooking (if you want to call it that :-)).

  1. Small victories are the ones that mean the most. Congrats on your Squat Jack dominance. Those and the Mary Katherines(I think that was the name) are so tough for me. I never keep up the pace they do on the DVD.

Your mealplan may be boring, but at least you are sticking to it. I’ve strayed way off course on that many times.

    • That is true! I appreciate it!! It’s just an insane workout!! The Mary Katherine’s kill me too. I never keep up with the pace they do either. I just do my best until my legs don’t go anymore.

I’ve found that the more I eat at home, the better I stick to the meal plan. Even though we’re buying about 2 gallons of skim milk a week (so I can drink all those protein shakes, it tastes so much better in milk), we’re actually saving a lot of money by not going out to eat as often.

The Superbowl, Valentines Day, and a lot of other events are coming up that I know I’m going to have a hard time sticking with it though.

  2. I know Sunday is going to be…well not even close to my planned intake. I’m going to indulge most likely. I’ll just have to do an extra helping of cardio X on monday.

    • Same here. I’m going to try to eat well this day, but I doubt it’s going to happen! Too many temptations will be all around me.

  3. You seriously eat almost the same thing every day :) I think the only thing that changes is the dinner LOL

Plyometrics – I really am starting to hate it..but I like it LOL. I never had to stop the dvd, but there were times I didn’t start exactly when they did..I basically watched them do 1 set, and then I hopped in..or I would stop before they finish because my muscles were tired.

I agree…I feel like ALL the warm up sessions every day somewhat wear me out..I am definitely breathing heavier.

Sunday will be tough…my Indianapolis Colts are going to win..having a superbowl party..hopefully we choose healthy foods.

    • Yea, I know, I’m boring when it comes to my diet!!!!!

Sometimes I would do that too instead of pausing the P90X DVD. I’d just do as many reps as I could until my legs wouldn’t go anymore.

Sounds like the Colts are your team. I’m sure they’ll win! If you’re hosting the party, that means you get to choose the food! That’s a good thing!

      • hahah true dat

  4. Up at 5am to do Cardio X this morning. Really glad it was out of the way for the day. Am looking forward to going into phase 2 of the eating plan. Growing tired of the lack of variety. We’ve really been sticking to the meal guide. I’m now down 6lbs which is awesome. After 4 kids, its quite the feat to get things moving again. =0)

    • Great job Leanne! Keep sticking with the P90X meal guide! Congrats on the great progress you’ve seen so far!

  5. Pretty intense workout with plyo. I couldn’t do the workout cause i got home at about 1 am and so tired there was no way i could do this tremendous workout after midnight. Still, im doing it today and i’ll just move the days finishimg with kenpo on my rest day and since next week is recovery week, i wont have any problem resting.
I love this workout and still have a little problem with my “keep pushing play” jaja but i manage to do it everyday (sometimes i dont even know how). I hate it, but i love it.

About your diet, same happens with mine. I eat 5 times a day but almost everyday is the same food. at least healthy food :)

    • Sometimes that happens and you have to shift the schedule a bit to stay on track. Great job for getting plyo done!!

      Keep on keeping on Edy!!!

  6. What’s your take on working out w maybe a slight injury? I apprently pulled somthing yesterday on my left side right in the back of my ribs.it hurts to breath and today is obv a workout that involves a lot of that amongst twisting yada yada. I do t wanna make it worse but I don’t wanna miss a day and get off track. Should I just do it but try to take it easy on the parts that might make it worse?

    • I blame mason twists…

      • Yea you can always work around the injury…Just work on the parts that don’t use that particular muscle that you pulled. And most importantly, when in doubt it’s always a good idea to see a doctor to be on the safe side!

        • I did she said it was a pulled muscle :o) . Last week I stopped at the 8min mark this week I had to stop at 30 not cause of my pulled muscle but cause the arches of my feet hurt so much .I have great running shoes w awesome inserts. Have u ever had the problem? I’ll finish the last half hour later tonight.

          • Got it. No I personally haven’t had that problem. Only thing I can say with that is to make sure you land lightly and land on the balls of your feet. I think it was a smart thing to break it up like that.

            Hope that helps!
