P90X Kenpo X

P90X Kenpo X

Day 20 of my P90X workout is OVER! I just completed Kenpo X. Just like last week, I punched, kicked, and blocked as hard as could during this workout. Overall, I think I got a great cardio workout. During the “breaks” to get my heart rate up even more, I would do the jumping jacks as fast as I could versus staying at Tony Horton’s pace. By the end of the workout I was dripping in sweat just like last week.

I think I definitely got a better workout yesterday with Legs and Back then on P90X day 12. My legs are extremely sore from yesterday! It hurts to stand up and sit down, and I feel it from my glutes all the way to my calves. It’s painful, but I feel great knowing that I got such a good workout.

I can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day of Phase 1 and then I’m moving into the Recovery Week! It really has flown by! A new P90X workout will be introduced next week called Core Synergistics. I haven’t read up on this workout, so I have no clue what to expect. I think by the end of next week, I’ll be pretty anxious to get back into the weight training portion of P90X. My weaknesses are legs and cardio so we’ll see how next week goes!

Nutrition for today-

Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.

Mid-Morning: Protein shake.

Lunch: Egg sandwich with Egg Beaters and a slice of provolone cheese.

Mid-Afternoon: Protein shake and some grape juice prior to Kenpo X. Also had the P90X Recovery drink after Kenpo X.

Dinner: Tonight my wife and I are going to have a romantic dinner at Subway! :-) All I know so far is I’m going to get some type of 6 inch sub on whole wheat bread. I’m going to look on their website to find out the best sub to get with the highest amount of protein.

After-Dinner: Protein shake.

  1. Keep it up! Kenpo X is no joke, even for those with excellent conditioning. Only have a few more days till Phase 2 nutrition plan (that is what I am looking forward to the most). You can introduce more carbs! Till then, keep digging down and ‘bringing it’!

    • I appreciate it! Will do! Yea, Kenpo X is a fun workout!

  2. Three weeks! Crazy how fast this has gone by. I am out of town and in my hurry grabbed chest/back and ab ripper! Crap! I forgot the routine switched on sunday. What was it supposed to be?

Kenpo went well again. I pushed it as hard as I could,

Sadly I probably discounted anything I did as I am 10 beers into the night as I type this. Played pitch tonight and won all night long.

    • It is very crazy! Sunday is Yoga X, then on Monday it’s Core Synergistics.

Good job with Kenpo X! Sounds like you had a fun night though! I’m the same way, so I’ve tried to avoid beer as much as possible during P90X.

Congrats on winning at pitch. I’ve never played that game before.

  3. Kenpo and Ab Ripper are done! Both felt exhausted all day, even wondered if we should do it tomorrow but decided to not start changing the dates of workouts~ a slippery slope that we don’t want to start. As usual, once the workout is done, we feel better. Can’t believe that we’re finishing week 3. Looking forward to starting phase 2 of the nutrition plan.

    • I agree completely. Once you start modifying the workouts like that it’s easy to continue doing it and you won’t reap the full benefits by doing it that way. You’re doing great! Keep up the hard work and keep pushing play no matter what!! You’re about a quarter of the way through P90X! :-)

      Have a great day!

  4. Well, this past week was hard. Went back to work after the summer off and it wasn’t easy. Missed a few workouts this week, but did a back to back double today to make it up. Am only one workout behing now. Will probably do a double again tomorrow. Can’t believe that rest week begins again. Doesn’t feel so difficult this time around. The only area that is more difficult is the eating. Haven’t been as strict this time around. Still trying to follow the rules but am indulging in some dessert. The goal is to better that part next month.

    • Getting back in the grove of things is always tough! Good job for stepping it up and making up the missed workouts. I’ve been pretty lax with the diet as well. As hard as it was to make the change to a healthy diet…it’s so extremely easy to step backwards into old habits.

Maybe we both should revisit our before pictures to see where we came from?

I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
