P90X Day 42 Completed: Rest or X Stretch
Well, even though today was supposed to be a rest day or X Stretch, I decided to do Kenpo X instead as my P90X workout. Last night I ended up going back on my old ways and I pigged out during dinner. We had some friends over, and for dinner we ordered Papa John’s pizza (big mistake). I had planned to only eat 2 slices of pizza (which isn’t the most nutritious meal, but it isn’t horribly bad) and I actually ended up eating 4 or 5 slices. It was really good, but I felt like crap after wards because I over ate, and I completely ignored the limits I set for myself. I could probably stand to take in some more calories to help build muscle, but pizza definitely isn’t the right kind of calories to do that. I’m only human, so I guess it’s to be expected that I’ll do things like this, but it’s just really frustrating when I go back to my old ways.
I felt much better after doing Kenpo X again! I tried to burn off as many calories as I could by punching, kicking, and blocking as hard as I could. Also, during the breaks I would jog in place as fast as possible and I did the jumping jacks much faster than Tony and the crew. I think I got a great workout, and I made up for some of the pizza I ate last night!
Nutrition for today-
Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.
Mid-Morning: Protein shake.
Lunch: Two slices of the remaining pepperoni pizza from last night (another not so great meal).
Mid-Afternoon: P90X Recovery drink and protein shake after Kenpo X.
Dinner: Tonight we are going out with my parents to eat dinner with them at a local BBQ restaurant. I’m not going to pig out like I did last night! I’m going to have a protein shake and some Fiber One cereal prior to going to fill me up. I’ll then just probably have a salad at the restaurant.
After-Dinner: Protein shake.

Jonathan,
Do you ever allow “cheat meals” in your diet and P90x progress? Even though you feel like crap after eating Papa Johns (I hate you btw…mmmm sounds good) you seem to live a pretty strict diet…so it doesn’t hurt to throw your body some goodies that it craves every once in a while.
Good choice on the Kenpo…at least you feel like your owning up to your diet choice the night before. But I wouldn’t stress over 1 meal.
It’s funny you asked that because I started to add that to my post, but ran out of time. The diet I was doing prior to P90X did require a weekly cheat meal. That really seemed to help me not pig out when the opportunity arose and was kind of a reward for sticking with the diet. With P90X, I haven’t been doing that and have followed it pretty strictly (there have been meals when I’ve just eaten whatever, but it hasn’t happened too often). Whenever I have gone off course, I have felt really guilty. I think I probably will start incorporating an actual weekly cheat meal though since it has worked before.
I love Papa John’s (and I just love pizza in general)! That’s the first time I’ve had it in maybe 6 months or so. I just couldn’t get enough of it Friday night!!
I am letting myself get through this weekend…so its been since last Friday since I worked out, but only since Wednesday since I started feeling better, so starting Monday I will begin I think Day 32.
You definitely have to let your body get well, so I think you did the right thing. Let me know how your first day back with P90X goes.
