P90X Day 6 Completed: P90X Kenpo X
P90X Day 6 is done!! One more day, and week 1 of P90X is over! Today was Kenpo X, and that has got to be my favorite P90X workout! The P90X Kenpo X workout consists of 26 exercises that includes lots of punching, kicking, and blocking. You’ll just need your heart rate monitor, water, and a towel. It is really, really fun and time fly’s with this P90X workout!
Honestly, I was worried all day about this workout because all of my leg muscles ache from my gluteus maximus to my calves from P90X Day 5 Legs and Back. At any point today that I’ve had to stand up from my chair, it has been really painful (I work at a desk all day, so that probably didn’t help). So, about 2 hours prior to doing Kenpo X I took an ibuprofen to help with the pain (I’ve heard that it is an anti-inflammatory). I’m not the type that pops pills for every ailment I get (I actually hate taking any type of medicine) so this was a little unusual for me.
The ibuprofen and the stretches Tony has you do prior to Kenpo X really helped out with the soreness and I think I did a great job with this workout. It was all new to me though, so some of the combination moves and kicks took me a little bit to get down. My wife has done kick boxing before (I’ve never done kick boxing), and she said that Kenpo X is really similar to that. I just thought it was really fun. You can even think of someone that annoys you while your doing the punches and kicks and that makes it especially fun (I did that :-))!
Nutrition for today-
Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.
Mid-Morning: NOTHING AGAIN; I should have had a protein shake!
Lunch: Egg, turkey, cheese, and tomato omelette (we ran out of bread). Also had a protein shake.
Mid-Afternoon: Strawberry Smoothie with 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed, 1 scoop of protein powder, and skim milk (not sure how much, just filled up the cup).
Dinner: Two tacos with steak, lettuce, cheese (very little), & salsa.
After-Dinner: Protein shake.
Also, after the Kenpo X workout I had my usual P90X Recovery drink (I just ran out so I’ll need to order more!! I was using it prior to P90X).
Tomorrow is day 7, and that means X Stretch or rest day! I’m going to try to do the X Stretch, but I may not have time. My wife and I are going to visit my grandmother in North Carolina for the weekend. We’re leaving at some point in the morning on Saturday and coming back Sunday afternoon. I guess we’ll just see if I can work it in!

Dude, I LOVED this session. It was awesome. I actually got through the whole workout almost punch for punch. My arms, back, and shoulders felt it though that night :)
Yea, I really enjoyed it too! It was really fun!! That means you got a great workout!!
Kenpo is now done. Amazed that the first week is almost done. It’s gone by so fast.
Great job!! It will fly by! I still can’t believe I only have 20 days left of P90X!
Yeaaahhhh. First week almost over and i just want the second to start right now. kenpo was good, i really like cardio and the punching and kicking was fun and make you go for more.
tomorrow i have rest day and i think my body needs it even when my mind just ask me for more and more so to satisfact both i’m gonna do stretch.
i hear you about the anti-inflammatory. My boss is a pharmacyst and the day about plyo she gave me one pill for my legs. It helps, not inmediatly but enought to be better the next day.
I have one question (yes, again jaja) i was reading today on the p90x book that not following a good diet (they suggedt the p90x nutrition plan) will still make you fit but you wont show it. that keeps coming to my mind since i this afternoon.
I am a manager and i dont have a lot of time to cook since iam still not living with my gf. I haven’t had a soda and not even my biggest weakness
Not even had a hamburguer (love them by the way). everyday i take lean shake in the morning (8 am) then i have my lunch at noon, im having salads, just a little bit of rice and some grains, tuna or grilled tilapia. Then at 3 pm i have another shake of lean shake. After that i have some food at 6 pm (most of the times same as lunch) and wait till 9 to make the workout. After that i take the recovery drink and thats it. Sometimes if after that i feel hungry i have a banana or a half-cup shake before hitting the bed.
I dont know if thats enough to make it good through the whole program. Im thinking about having more fruits with the shakes, but i dont see how better i can do. :/
You’re right…following the nutrition side of things is very important. It’s actually just as important as your workouts. You’re diet sounds pretty decent. The recovery drink after your workout is great, but since you are working out right before you go to bed, I’d keep any more fruit/high carb foods to a minimum. Before you go to bed if you’re still hungry, having a protein shake is a good option.

KEEP pushing play buddy!!!! Next week you can push harder since you’re starting to learn your limits. BRING IT!
Ohhh i forgot another thing jaja i think i was holding back a little bit today. I felt the workout but i forgot to buy the hrm and didnt know if i was on my zone or not. I hope to buy it for week 2.
Kenpo X complete! It was fun, but some of the stretching in the beginning was… eh. I started running out of energy about 3/4 into it, but I just buckled down and concentrated on the moves and not hyper-extending my joints. I also managed to get caught up in my Calculus 2 class before the exercise! Now I just need to review for the final.
Yea the stretching is actually kind of tough (it was at least for me). Good luck with the final!
You were right!! I did have a blast haaha It was over before I knew it. I’ve still got to work on my flexibility though. It’ll get there, gunna take advantage of stretch x tomorrow.
I knew it! :-) It’s a fun workout! Flexibility will come with time. Before my first 90 days of P90X i couldn’t touch my toes (I had never been able to touch my toes before). After my first 90 days of P90X I was able to touch my toes! :-) X Stretch is going to feel awesome!!
