P90X Day 71 Completed: Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X
I just finished my P90X workout for the day, Chest and Back & Ab Ripper X! Since this was the last time I’ll be doing Chest Back for awhile (at least until Round 2 of P90X :-) ) I wanted to make sure to “bring it” and to give it my all. I did exactly that and I pushed myself until I literally couldn’t push myself off the ground any more! I know I’ll be feeling sore from this workout for several days!
I was able to add additional reps during all exercises during Chest and Back except for the first set of the Standard Push Ups and during the first set of the Wide Front Pull Ups. Tony Horton always gives that warning to pace yourself and to maybe do a few less reps than your max during the first set so you’re not “dogging it” during the second set. That got me worried for a little bit that I may over do it so I didn’t max out during those first 2 exercises. Once I got through those two exercises I thought in my head, “Screw it, this is the last time I’m doing this workout for awhile,” and I decided to max out on all of the remaining exercises. I ended up adding 1 to 5 reps for all of the remaining exercises during both sets from what I did on P90X day 57.
When I finally got to the last set of the Dive-Bomber Push Ups my arms, chest, and back were exhausted! I didn’t have all that much left in me! I started pushing out the reps and I finally got to the same number of reps as I did before (it was very painful). I almost stopped there but I had to do better from day 57! I pushed out the last rep and I dropped to the floor when I finished it from being so tired. That last rep was extremely painful, but it felt really good to finish the workout!
I didn’t do Ab Ripper X immediately after Chest and Back because I needed to get some fuel in me! I ate lunch, and then I knocked out Ab Ripper X. It went great like usual. The Fifer Scissor was tough today though! I fought really hard to keep my legs straight, and to extend them as high as possible. The remaining exercises flew by, and before I knew it the workout was done!
After having several days of cold weather we’re now back to Spring here in Virginia! It’s 69 degrees out so I’m going to go outside and enjoy the weather!

Plyometrics works!!! Softball started up this week…I skipped legs and back, but did ab ripper. Playing 3 games of softball made me pretty sore. My range at second base improved a ton and my speed around the bags was alot faster too. I caught several balls I normally couldn’t. Ranging left and right, sprinting down bloopers into right field. My bat speed was also better. I went 7-8(my only out I got robbed on!).
Ab ripper went well! I sweated my arse off pushing as hard as I could. Oh and Dangint, I missed my little russian doing her dive bomber pushups!
Sounds like P90X has helped your game a lot! Great job! That’s great to hear that it’s helped your speed out. That’s something that I needed to improve but haven’t done anything yet to see if it’s gotten better.
lol…Yea Chest and Back was intense! I’m definitely feeling it today!
