P90X Pterodactyl

I just finished my P90X workout for the day, Shoulders and Arms and Ab Ripper X! Today I did Ab Ripper X first before doing Shoulders and Arms. Ab Ripper X went great like usual!! I really feel like I’ve got this workout down for the most part. I do the advanced version of all the exercises so now I’m just focusing on flexing my abs as hard as I can and improving my form (keeping my legs straight and as high as possible, etc.).

There is no doubt that my shoulders and biceps will be sore tomorrow from Shoulders and Arms! I increased my weight to 30 pounds during some of the shoulder and tricep exercises as well as increased the number of reps I did for all the remaining exercises. I increased my weight to 30 pounds during the first and second set of the Alternating Shoulder Presses, and during the first set of the Two-Arm Tricep Kickbacks and the Upright Rows. My shoulders were burning like crazy throughout the workout, and they are already starting to feel sore.

During the Static Arm Curls, I almost made it through both sets doing the 16 reps with 25 pounds dumbbells. I did all 16 reps for the first set, but then during the second set I did 15 reps. That’s a major improvement though from P90X day 59 when I was only able to do 8 reps during the last set.

Yoga might be tough tomorrow depending on how sore my shoulders are, but I’ll suck it up and do my best! Well, I’m off to go eat an early dinner!

Nutrition for today-

Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.

Mid-Morning: Protein shake.

Lunch: Leftover Chili Con Turkey from dinner last night.

Mid-Afternoon: Cup of grape juice prior to Shoulders and Arms & Ab Ripper X. Also had the P90X Recovery drink and a protein shake after the workout.

Dinner: Finished off the the Chili Con Turkey (it’s good stuff and I don’t mind eating it for lunch and dinner)!

After-Dinner: Protein shake.

  1. Have you considered trying ab ripper second? It might make the workout harder again. After all its not about getting it down, its about pushing yourself. I saw some weighted vests in the store today too, an extra 10-15 pounds would make some of those alot harder.

Anyways, done with my ab ripper for the day. I ate some beans today at lunch…terrible choice. They are ripping me apart and made the workout super hard. I’m going to wait til they die down before doing Shoulders and Arms. I feel like I reversed a little on ab ripper…oblique v ups killed me as well as the fifer scissors. Several others were harder than normal as well. I really think those softball games did a number on me. Man I’m getting old.

    • That’s what I usually do…but sometimes I do just do it before. I’ve been focusing on really squeezing my abs muscles and improving my form which helps push up the intensity for me. I was looking at weighted vests a few weeks ago too! At some point I’d love to get one of those and wear it during some of the workouts or even all of them. I’m sure wearing an extra 10-15 pounds would make a huge difference!

That’s happened to me before with the beans, so I know how you feel!

I’m sure it was just an off day or like you said from all those softball games! The Oblique V-ups and the Fifer Scissors are always the most painful for me. I can get through them, but they never seem to get less painful.

  2. Kind of nervous about today. I rolled my ankle pretty bad a few days ago and it’s still in pain. Yoga/cardiox/running all 3 sound like they might be painful. Guess I’ll just ahve to test it and see what it can handle.

    • Sorry to hear that you rolled your ankle! Yea you probably do want take it easy on it so you don’t make it worse. Yoga X, Cardio X and running does sound like a lot!! You may want to cut 1 or more of those out just until it gets better.

I hope your ankle gets better soon!!

  3. Whoops! I meant just doing any of the 3, not all 3 !

    • Ohhhhh! Gotcha! I was thinking that was a lot! I think Yoga would be less painful, but I guess you would just have to test it out like you said. Staying in some of the poses might put it in a bad position.

      Hope it gets better!

  4. I just finished my day 73 yesterday as well.
It was great. I love the Back and Biceps workout. It burns like hell, but afterwords it feels great, and the next day the biceps just seem to…bulge more (haha).

    • Good job Colin! Keep up the awesome work!!! No pain, no gain! :-)
