My wife and I finished week 1 of the P90X workout on Saturday! This is the 2nd round of P90X for me, and this is the first time my wife has ever done P90X before (well, she’s done some of the workouts, but she’s never completed the entire program). It was a whirlwind of a week! It was basically non-stop between my business and everything else that my wife and I had going on. We still managed to do all of the workouts, but it was a very tiring week!

We have been doing the workouts in the evenings, and that has been tough for me to get used to. During round 1 of P90X I would generally do the workouts about mid-afternoon (I work from home) and I usually had plenty of energy to get me through the workouts. This round of P90X my wife and I have been doing most of the workouts around 9 to 10pm at night. By that time of the day I’m usually pretty tired. I went into a lot of the workouts this past week lacking energy and even lacking motivation, which definitely isn’t good.

I either need to figure out how to wake myself up so I can “bring it” to each workout, or I may need to talk with my wife about us potentially doing our workouts early in the mornings (which I’ve never been very successful at doing, but it may be worth another try). The only other alternative is for me to just do the workouts by myself again about mid-day, but I’d rather not do that since I want to do this with Jen. I really want to continue doing the P90X program with her since I think it helps the both of us push harder. We’ll figure it out!

Below is a short clip of my wife doing P90X Plyometrics. I’ve got to get a new video camera!  I turned on all of the lights in our living room (it was very bright), but the video still looks super dark.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! If you’re doing P90X, Insanity, or some other in-home workout program, keep pushing play!

P90X is a great workout! Plyometrics is definitely the mother of all workouts. I’m only just starting. Round 1 week 3. Doing the classic. I’ve lost nearly 15 lbs since starting. Its an intense workout. I hate it, but I love it!

    • I agree! Plyo is the mother of all workouts! :-)

Wow! Great results! Keep up the hard work and keep me updated on your progress!

  2. It doesnt look like you guys have very much room for the excercises in there. How do you do lunges? Just one forward and turn everytime?

    • You’re right, we don’t have much room at all! We’re actually able to do about 2 lunges and then we have to turn around (if we go towards the side of the house versus going towards the back of the house). We live in a townhouse so it’s pretty tight. We just have to improvise sometimes.

  3. Since I work 12 hrs a night, I find shifting my schedule back 1 hr each day works well. Essentially, the first two days, I workout before work, then on Wed. I split the main workout and ab ripper between morning and evening. Thurs, Fri., and Sat. I do the entire workout after work, then x-stretch after church on Sunday.

Great news! After only two weeks of P90X, I ran the Navy’s PRT, and improved my scores from 55 situps, 40 pushups, 13:15 1.5 mile, pre-P90X, to 71 situps, 45 pushups, 12:28 1.5 mile!

    • Good job! Sounds like you’ve got your schedule down! Also, congrats on improving your scores with the Navy PRT! That is definitely a big improvement especially only after 2 weeks of P90X!!! Just think what you’ll be able to accomplish after the full 90 days of P90X?!?

      Keep up the great work!!

  4. Another landmark for me: last night, during ab ripper, I was surprised to find I could touch my toes during the situp portion of the situp/V-up exercises.

    • Wow!!! Great job! Sounds like you’re getting some awesome P90X results!!! Keep up all of your hard work since it is definitely paying off!!!
