It’s my pleasure John! I appreciate your comment!

CONGRATS to you and your wife for getting to day 5 of Insanity! Yea they don’t call it “Insanity” for nothing! :-) It is a TOUGH program, but stick with it no matter what and just do the very best that you can. My wife and I got incredible results with Insanity…it was crazy to see how much my endurance and cardio improved over the 60 days.

Do me a favor John and keep me updated on your progress. Let me know once you finish the first 2 weeks and I’d love to hear how they went. Have a great weekend buddy and keep pushing play!

I just stumbled upon your website and have found the content inspiring! My wife and I started Insanity last Monday (we finished day 5 today) – it is insane!!! We completed P90X last fall, and did not do much since (sicknesses, holidays, etc – plus we have 6 kids!). So, starting Insanity was both challenging and extremely difficult! I’ll keep checking out your site – it is good to know that we’re not alone! I look forward to continuing the workouts, they are the best cardio workouts I’ve ever done!

Thanks for the kind words Daniela! GREAT JOB for sticking with day 1 of P90X and just doing your best! That is what it’s all about! Stick with your daily workouts no matter what! As the weeks go by if you are always doing your best and giving 100% you will get better and better at the workouts!

By the way, what kind of goals are you trying to accomplish with P90X?

In high school I was on the dance team, swim team, and a varsity cheerleader PLUS going to the gym. I was a bit of a “gym rat” or so my dad would tell me haha. Today I started my first day of P90X Lean and I only made it through 20 minutes! Granted…I have had bronchitis the last week and was practically handcuffed to my inhaler while I was doing it but I still feel like I should have been able to finish it! I’m not going to let that get me down though, tomorrow I will try again and again and again until I can do it! I still have 89 days left so my spirit isn’t broken yet! I commend you for all you success :)

Good Luck!

lol….That’s good though because it sounds like working out is habit for you! Learn from me and stick with it! :-) We all fail from time to time though so just keep pushing forward!

I feel so guilty when I only get a workout in 3 to 4 days a week. It’s like if I don’t at least get my 5 days or more I got an bad grade for the week. :P

I really need to make a blog post or do a webinar on some things you can do to stick with your healthy eating habits. Eating right and sticking with it is typically the hardest part for most people (myself included). I’ve gotten to a point now though where eating healthy foods is habit and it’s second nature to me now. Like the workouts though I’m still not perfect and I’ll eat junk or things I’m not supposed to have from time to time (the times I slip up usually happens when we eat outside of our home). I’m like you and that I LOVE chocolate (dark is my favorite)! What I used to do and what I sometimes do now, is I’ll have 1 piece of dark chocolate a day (typically after I eat my lunch when I’m full). That helps to satisfy my chocolate craving. It’s important that you eat it when you’re full so you’re not tempted to eat more. If you can’t handle to only eat 1 piece and end up eating more, then you may have to cut out chocolate all together (which I did HAVE to do for a long time).

Here’s a few tips for you-
Get rid of ALL the junk from your house…Clean your fridge, pantry, cabinets, etc. and get rid of anything that doesn’t follow the healthy eating plan you’re following.
Have a cheat meal once a week. I typically do this myself in a modified way….Set a day each and every week where you will have a meal that you’ll eat whatever you want (within reason of course). Don’t feel guilty about it because this is your reward for making healthy decisions all week.

I haven’t seen a hybrid of the programs you mentioned. Once you’re ready to start it, let me know and we’ll have to get together by phone and I can help you put one together.

My pleasure Heather! Keep me updated on your progress! Feel free to leave tons of comments and/or messages on my Facebook wall letting me know your progress. Together with all of us supporting each other we’ll accomplish SO much more! Have a wonderful day!

THANK you for the support Sharon! Yea that is a very positive way to look at it!! You’re right about resetting my plateau level…I am STILL sore from our P90X workout on Sunday which was Chest, Shoulders and Triceps! :-) It’s a good feeling though knowing that I got an awesome workout. Yea my wife Jen is great for accountability. She helps keep me in check! :-) Hope you have a GREAT day and keep pushing play (I know I will)!

P.S. I left you a voice mail last night, so give me a call back some time.

I can keep them up for a little while, then I get a chocolate craving and once I cave, I’m done!! It’s nice to finally have a group to lean on for support!! I am REALLY looking forward to getting my TurboFire and REALLY making a go of this once I get settled with my move!! I’ve lost about 23lbs in the past 6 months or so with OUT any kind of exercise program. Just being back to working (I’m a waitress, so all the running around in my Shape-Ups helps) after a year off, has helped. But, working around unhealthy food (Olive Garden) and working nights and doubles on weekends, causes me to wonder just HOW to make this all work. I’ve managed the food part, by packing a “lunch”, for work. Usually I bring a piece of fruit and/or some Multigrain Cheerios. If I have to work a double shift (usually 11am-ish to about 9 or 10pm), then I also pack my protein powder and shaker bottle. But, getting home so late at night makes me stay up even later, which makes me sleep in pretty late in the morning. I would LOVE to be able to workout when I got home at night, cuz that is when my energy is high, but then I REALLY can’t sleep. And in the am I drag BIG time!! I REALLY need a way to get moving in the morning. Also, I was wondering if there are any hybrid plans that involve ChaLEAN and TurboFire or Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs, or some sort of mix of those. Thanks for the honest blog, its made me feel a little better about my slacking off, but I would LOVE some pointers from anyone who will offer any!! Thanks again!!

Please don’t beat yourself up about it. That just proved that you’re HUMAN, not a robot. Everyone gets sick, and if you didn’t put your workouts “on hold”, you would’ve failed your body. Just think of your break as an EXTENDED VACATION, not a failure. By resting all those days, you reset your plateau level and will reap even greater results from your usual routine. Good for you for getting restarted in such a short time (I had a little glitch like yours, but mine lasted an entire month!) and lucky you for having such a solid backbone like Jen! =)
