I actually still haven’t taken it yet. They keep telling us that we’re going to take it when we come in, but we end up not doing it. I have drills this weekend so it may happen. If I have time (and we end up not doing it) than I may go through the run, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. on my own just to see how I do.

Be careful using your apartment doorway especially if you’re not using the safety tab. As long as you don’t drop off the bar like you said or go super fast during the pull ups you’ll probably be ok. That’s great about your wife being able to do some modified moves!

I think doing a mock Navy PRT in addition to the P90X Fit Test (with a few days of rest between) is a great idea! Don’t forget to take your before photos as well as take your measurements too. Just go through the fitness guide and it’ll tell you what to do. I re-took my photos and measurements at the end of each Phase (which you may want to do too). That has helped show me where I’ve come from and how much I’ve accomplished.

Congrats for starting your P90X journey! Keep me updated here on my blog on how you’re doing! You could even follow along each day using the P90X calendar I put together in the right-hand column.

I’m starting p90x on Monday. Went out and found a good deal on most of the gear I’ll need at Walmart yesterday, confirmed that I can still (barely) manage 3 pull-ups, although my apartment doorway worries me: the moulding is fastened so tight, I cannot put the safety tab in without having to pay for repairs when I move out later this summer. The bar holds ok without, but there will be no dropping off the bar when I’m tired. An interesting note: using the weakest resistance bands, my wife, who has severe type I muscle predominance, to the point of being in a wheelchair, thinks she could probably actually do the ‘floor pull-ups’ with the resistance bands. There’s little chance of her ever joining me in a full workout, but modified versions of some of the exercises are really close to what the physical therapist has her doing.

I am debating running a mock Navy PRT in addition to the suggested pre-test, separated by a day or two, before starting p90x, to establish a baseline for comparison. What do you think? And where can I get protein shakes at 5am when I get off work? hehe.
