The foods listed in the guide are just fine, decent variety. But i would like to even further expand my food selection…..

As long as you’re sticking with your nutritional proportions for the day, then it really doesn’t matter what meals you are eating. Do whatever works for you and your schedule and keep it simple.

It’s definitely not the same, but you could give that a try as far as the P90X Recovery Drink.

I’ve figured probably the best thing for me is to make my meals the night before and take them with me to work including dinner. Therefore I don’t really have the time to make meals that are as elaborate as some of the recipes. I’m wondering if i just follow one of the days like day one seams pretty easy to make but do that every day switching proteins around for some change would i still see the same results if i actually ate the food that is on day one and day two? I’ve read that some of these meals are planned with the type of workout your doing that day.

Second is there a replacement to the recovery drink? other forums have said mixing whey protein with some type of fruit juice like apple juice would work? any truth to this

Yes you still should follow the guide. I can’t tell you what kind of results you’ll get if you follow the guide. You might still get results like I did if you’re eating somewhat healthy.

Make sure to take the time to read your P90X Nutrition Guide since it walks you through it. You’ll want to stick with the nutritional proportions from the P90X Nutrition Guide…I share those proportions above in this post.

I am so far midway through the 2nd week of the p90x. If I am looking to just gain muscle and not lose any weight cause I’m already a twig would I have to follow the diet plan? Would it be a drastic difference if I did follow it vs not following it? Thanks if you get the time to comment and help.

Or would you know of where I can find information about it – I have been doing research but have yet been able to find a clear intake amount for my particular goals- or even know of a good protein supplement to help attain my goal? So far I have been taking the GNC Amplify XL protein shake but have not been doing the full 3 scoops serving(41g protein) as it just is way too much for me- at least it feels like it- I have seen it helping with soreness and I have been seeing some definition in my arms ( not sure if its because of doing the p90x workouts or the protein shake or possible a combo of both) either way I want to make sure I am taking the correct amount of protein to get to my goal. Thank you for your time again – I may post this in the insanity vs p90x thread- as I see you on that thread more frequently :) thanks again !

After a hard workout like P90X, your body needs the carbs/protein and calories. The did studies on it and the ratio showed to aid in muscle repair, and the reduction of muscle soreness. Hope that helps!

I am 22 weigh 124 and i am just looking to tone up, not so much the weight loss nor bulking up. I just want toned and defined… not even ripped. I haven’t been following the nutrition plan as it just is simply way too many calories for me to intake. i consume probably less than 1200 a day. Additionally I have been incorporating a protein shake I got a GNC- i thought it would be ideal for the recovery drink as the guy at the store said it would be- however i was reading up on the protein to carb ratio .. which is 4:1 – to me that seems like a whole lot of carbs ( but then again i am no protein shake expert – as this would be my first time taking it) – the shake i bought has 41g of protein and 8 g carbs- i am not looking to bulk up .. just tone up and tighten my softness. So I know you say that to get the best results one must follow the plan -but i just cant wrap my head around the idea of consuming so many calories and carbs, etc… just was wondering if i can get some insight on my choice – also a little help in my protein shake intake regiment. Thanks for your time :)

It’s up to you and you have to do what you feel is right for your body. Best thing to do is pick a number, and then stick with it. Then track everything for 30 days. Re-take your measurements after 30 days and you’ll know whether you need to go up or down. It’s a learning process.
