Insanity ResultsMy Insanity Results are in!!! It’s crazy to say this, but I just finished my FIRST round of Insanity! If you would have asked me about this time last year if I thought I would have ever attempt to even try this program, I would have laughed at you very loudly! :-) At that point I was just starting my first round of P90X, and that program alone seemed like a HUGE mountain to get over. Insanity was like the Mount Everest of fitness programs and is focused on my biggest weakness at that time, endurance and cardio. That’s why I’m so pumped up to tell you about my Insanity results.

First, before I jump into my Insanity results, let me give you an overview of this program in case you don’t know about it…

Insanity Results – What Is This Crazy “Insanity” Program All About?

Insanity is an intense total body conditioning fitness program that is designed to give you  “insane” insanity results in just 60 days. It is focused on cardio activities to build strength, speed, and endurance that will help you burn through tons and tons of calories to sculpt a lean, mean, ripped body! :-) Insanity has been billed as the most intense workout ever put on DVD so when I say intense, I mean INTENSE! During some of the workouts you’ll burn over 1,000 calories. With that kind of calorie burn, you know that the exercises have to be quick and that you will get crazy insanity results if you stick with it!

The fitness trainer who created this madness to make sure you get crazy insanity results is Shaun T. He based it on “years of study plus his collegiate track and field training.” The method that he employs in Insanity is called “Max Interval Training.” Typically in interval workouts, you are working out in short, high intensity intervals…Well Insanity basically flips it the other way around and you are doing maximum high intensity exercises with short periods of rest. It’s a method that works and will give you awesome insanity results!

One thing that I LOVE about Insanity is that the only equipment you use is your body weight. That means you don’t need to go out and buy equipment, you don’t have find a place in your home to store any equipment, and it makes it really easy to get your workouts done when you travel. My wife and I had to go out of town unexpectedly during our 2nd month of Insanity, and we just brought a laptop with us and we did our workouts in our hotel room.

So one other thing I did want to mention, is that Insanity is NOT a program for beginners. If you are debating between doing Insanity and P90X, check out this post where I talk about both programs- P90X Or Insanity.

Insanity Results – What Were My Goals I Was Trying To Accomplish?

I of course wanted to get some insane insanity results :-), but the biggest goal for me, is that I wanted to finish the program. As you know now, this is an extremely intense program that is focused on cardio. Cardio workouts have always been my weakness. I wanted a fitness program that would challenge that weakness head on and I figured Insanity would do the trick. So for me, just finishing Insanity would be a huge accomplishment. Also, prior to doing Insanity I did 2 rounds of P90X. After the 2 rounds of P90X, I was ripped and in the best shape of my life. After the 2nd round I didn’t commit to starting a program immediately…That was a MAJOR mistake! I ended up going a few months of not being on a program. I would do workouts here and there, but I honestly was not working out like I should. I took a step backwards, but I still was following a healthy eating plan so I didn’t go completely back to my old ways.

One day I ended up watching a video that I had made of myself doing some pull ups after my 2nd round of P90X (I was in the process of putting together my P90X transformation video), and I noticed how ripped that I had gotten. At that point, I knew that I had to commit to do another fitness program. So my second major “insanity results” goal was to get ripped and toned like I was after P90X. I wanted to get that six pack back!

Insanity Results – OK, Just Show Me Your Insanity Results!

Alright, so you want to find out my Insanity results!! Well here is an overview of my Insanity results after my first 60 days of madness with Shaun T-

  • Lost 1 inch in my waist (got back down to where I was at after P90X round 2).
  • Lost 5 pounds (again back down to where I was after P90X round 2).
  • Lost half of inch around my hips.
  • GREATLY increased my endurance.
  • I’ve got my six pack back. :-)
  • GREATLY increased the strength in my legs.

The true test of my endurance and strength will be when my wife and I re-take the Insanity Fit Test. We are doing that sometime today so that will give me an even better idea of my Insanity results. I’ll update this section once we’ve re-taken the fit test with my final Insanity results.

p90x motivationIt is inevitable that you will have days during your P90X workout that you won’t have much motivation to workout. When you don’t have much motivation to workout, it’s easy to start making excuses on why you can’t or shouldn’t workout. These excuses could ultimately lead to you skipping your workout or giving less than 100% effort. When you’re feeling less than enthusiastic to do your P90X workout, try the below to get you pumped and excited for your workout!

1) Look at your Before Pictures. Pull out your before pictures and take a look at them. That is where you’ve come from, and what you don’t want to go back to.  As hard as it is to make the lifestyle change you’ve made with P90X, it is so extremely easy to step backwards and go back into your old habits. Don’t let today be the day you are going to step back to your old self. Commit to giving today’s workout 110% and do it now. Sometimes just looking at your before pictures may be enough to keep you motivated. It may be a good idea to post your before pictures somewhere you will see them every day.

2) Think about your “Why” for doing P90X. Why exactly did you start P90X in the first place? Was it to lose weight, tone up, or build muscles? What will losing those extra pounds, toning up, or bulking up do for your health? Think about the reasons you originally made the commitment to do P90X. Re-commit to accomplishing your P90X goals.

3) Find a partner to workout with in your home or to workout with virtually. On the days where I had very little motivation to workout, I’d get my wife to workout with me. Workout with your spouse, or get a friend to workout with you. If you like to compete, make the workout a fun competition to see who can do more reps, more weight, etc. Sign up for a free Beachbody account and join a virtual workout group in the WOWY SuperGym. There are thousands and thousands of people on the same P90X journey you are on who are working out daily in the WOWY SuperGym. Connecting with others online at TeamBeachbody is an easy way stay motivated and to be held accountable for your workouts.

4) Try working out first thing in the morning. Working out in the evenings may be more convenient for your schedule, but you may also be more likely to skip your workouts.  Being too tired, or too busy with other things are just a few excuses that are easy to make when working out in the evenings. Try getting up earlier so you can do your workouts first thing in the morning. Make it part of your daily morning routine.

Shakeology Review – Here’s My Shakeology Review!

I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical when I originally heard about Shakeology. However, after I read the ingredients (click here to check out the ingredients), heard some awesome reviews, and tried it for myself I was blown away! After two weeks of using Shakeology I do feel like I have more energy and less cravings for food. I have been using Shakeology as a mid-morning snack to get my vitamins and nutrients that I need. I have tried both the Chocolate and the Greenberry flavors. The Chocolate flavor is definitely my favorite! It literally tastes like a dessert. Usually I’ll add some ice and a little bit of natural peanut butter (to increase the calories) to make a delicious, rich & creamy smoothie.

Ok, so you’ve just heard a friend talking about the P90X workout, or you saw an infomercial for P90X Saturday morning while you were eating your Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. You’re probably wondering, does P90X really work? The very short and simple answer is- Yes! However, your success with P90X does depend on several factors.

1. You Must Commit to P90X-

You have to be 100% committed to the program. What exactly does that mean? That means that you can’t let any excuses get in the way of your workouts. There will be days were you are tired from working all day, tired from all the errands you’ve done, tired from taking the kids to their various activities, etc. There also may be days when you think you just don’t have the time to do your workout. These are just a few examples of excuses that may crop up. You must push the excuses aside, and just do your workout! Keep your “why” for doing P90X clearly posted somewhere that you will constantly see it. This will help keep you going when you start making the excuses.

You also need to give the workouts everything you’ve got. You will have “off” days when you don’t do as well as you had hoped. Don’t let these days bring you down. As Tony Horton always says, “do your best and forget the rest!”

If you are honestly 100% committed to the program, than you will succeed. If you aren’t truly determined to get in shape or you don’t commit to the program, than you are setting yourself up for failure.

2. You Must Follow Some Type of Healthy Eating Plan-

Doing the workouts is only 50% of the equation. You must follow some type of healthy eating plan that works for you* to maximize your results. Many people think that they can do the workouts, stick with their usual diet, and still get incredible results. You will more than likely see some type of results (unless you’re eating Big Mac’s every day), but you’re going to be limiting the results you achieve. Following a healthy eating plan is critical to your success with the program.

The P90X program actually comes with a very detailed Nutrition Plan that I recommend everyone to follow. It will help you determine how many calories you need each day, and has 3 different approaches to eating healthy (depending on your lifestyle) to ensure you get the proper nutrition during P90X. It also has loads of delicious and simple recipes. A great book that I also recommend to anyone looking to improve their eating habits is called “The Abs Diet,” by David Zinczenko. This book completely re-taught my wife and I how to eat. It follows the same principles the P90X Nutrition Plan does of eating a high protein, high fiber diet while avoiding processed and fried foods. You could probably check this book out at your local library.

*Following a eating plan that works for you is very important. There is no such thing of a diet that is one size fits all. Everyone has different metabolisms and body types. What works for you may not work for me. Do what works for you!

If you follow the above 2 points, then P90X will work for you and you will get incredible results from the program. I personally have gone through one round of P90X (see my results here-> P90X Results), and I’m currently doing another round of P90X now with my wife. I absolutely love the program and it got me into the best shape of my life.

So what are my final P90X results from the P90X workout? Below are some of the highlights of my P90X results

  • Lost 11 pounds

I just want people to realize that if this is something that I can do, than you can definitely get awesome P90X results too! I simply decided to do the P90X program, I committed myself to the program and the nutrition plan, and I succeeded! P90X Results – Goals Accomplished?

Did I accomplish all of my goals during this first round of P90X? For the most part! My main goals were to lose the extra fat I have around my belly (so my abs pop out) and to build muscle. I managed to lose all of the fat, and replace it with muscle.

The only thing that I wished I would have gotten better results with was adding size to my muscles. I got some increase in size in my chest, but none in my arms. That was really my own fault though because I wasn’t taking in enough calories. I guess I’ve got to remember as well that building muscle takes time. During this first round of P90X I was mainly losing all of the unwanted fat and replacing it with muscle. I think I will have an easier time gaining muscle this next round of P90X.

P90X Results – So What Are YOU Going To Do?

I highly recommend P90X to anyone who is looking to get fit and healthy! I’ve read so many success stories of individuals of all ages and fitness levels who have gotten extreme results from P90X. One of the success stories that has really stood out in my mind is of a couple who did P90X together. They were both in their mid 50’s and the husband had Type II diabetes. He had an insulin requirement of 20 to 30 units twice per day before the program. At the end of P90X, he had a daily insulin requirement of ZERO!
