CONGRATS Tony for starting P90X2! Sounds like you and I have the same goals! :-)

Yep, you are right as far as the recovery. You’re to do it when you need it. Check out my latest blog post for more info on that-

As far as skipping the recovery days…I highly recommend against that. They laid it out like that for a reason so you really should stick with it as is (at least for the first round). Let us know how this week of P90X2 goes for you! BRING IT!

I’ve started Day 1 today. My first week I’m looking at it as learning the moves, yet I enjoyed X2Core – a couple routines with the stability ball will take some practice – talk about trying to be stable! LOL My goal also is to bulk up. Currently I take after my workout a protein shake called Pro complex Gainer – trying to up my calories and protein and carbs. Look forward to reading more of your tips with this new program. Looking forward to Day 2. :) Question – I did read that recovery is done when you need it. I’m thinking of doing it after every three weeks. (X2 mobility) So day 3 is “rest” period but can I just skip that and go to the next routine, Day 4?

Awesome! Congrats for starting P90X2! What’s got you doing the program?

I use Optimum Nutrition, Gold Standard Whey protein (the french vanilla flavor). I think it tastes pretty good.

Several people at my job now have started doing the P90X, most of them are trying to lose wait so I told them keep the kenpo and plyo in there program at least for the 1st time around. I am 44 years old I was @ 114 LBS, I smoke etc. so the plyo and kenpo was not for me plus it burns a lot of calories, I will say though when I was doing the plyo and kenpo I now only smoke a half a pack a day versus the 1 and 1/2 packs. I am a believer in the P90X and start my 2nd round Wed, I am trying to put on 12 more lbs and hopefully by April the 23rd I will accomplish it. I invested in a 1 to 40 LBD weighted vest as well and will be starting with 5 LBS for the push ups and pull ups

Wow….NICE job DJ! Sounds like you’ve been packing on the muscle! Yea your schedule looks awesome. Here in the next few weeks I’ll have to post the P90X workout schedule for bulking up. Be on the lookout for that.

Have the people around you noticed your gain in muscle?

I finished the P90X I have gained 9 LBS, 3 inches on my waist and 2.5 inches on my chest. Me like you are also trying to bulk up. I am going to complete the P90X again before starting the P90X2 but this time I have it modified. Monday through Friday will be workouts with rest or Yoga on Saturday and rest or stretch on Sunday. Here is my schedule and would like to know what you think, also you are so correct about the nutrition, without it the workouts will not help putting on the weight needed.

Mon = chest&back
Tues = shoulders & arms
Wed = legs
Thurs = back & biceps
Friday = chest, shoulders & triceps
Sat = rest or Yoga
Sunday = rest or stretch

I also struggle with some balance moves, but I am guessing that will improve more over time. Just thought I’d let you know I have officially started p90x2 and I am ready for this journey to finally begin!
