P90X Legs and Back Switch Grip Pull Ups
I just completed my P90X workout for the day, Legs and Back, & Ab Ripper X! The Legs and Back workout was really tough today! I usually struggle with the leg exercises (my legs are definitely weaker than my upper body), but today I was struggling more with the Back exercises (all of the different variations of pull ups). I think what made the pull ups more difficult for me then usual is that my shoulders, and biceps are still very sore from P90X day 59. That made the pull ups really painful!
I still made some improvements from week 7 though. For the Closed Grip Overhand Pull Ups, and the Switch Grip Pull Ups I was able to add 1 rep to all of the sets. For the Reverse Grip Chin Ups, and the Wide Front Pull Ups I was able to add 1 rep to one of the sets (the other 2 sets I stayed the same from week 7). So I guess I didn’t do horrible, the pull ups were just a bit more painful than usual.
For the leg exercises, I think I did pretty good. I used 20 pound dumbbells again for all of the exercises. Before the 80/20 Cyber-Speed Squats I did take a short break, but I was able to do all of the reps this time. I didn’t go airborne as much as Tony Horton and the crew, but I did my best! Lastly, Ab Ripper X went great like usual! I’m almost to the point where I can do all of the Leg Climbs with just touching my shins/toes.
Nutrition for today-
Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.
Mid-Morning: Protein shake.
Lunch: Leftover Sloppy Joe’s from last night’s dinner. Sloppy Joe’s are usually pretty unhealthy, but these were actually not bad at all (they were loaded with protein). These were homemade, and my wife made them with lean ground turkey. The recipe called for brown sugar, but my wife used Splenda brown sugar. They turned out really good (a little too good…it made me want to eat more than I should).
Mid-Afternoon: Protein shake and P90X Recovery drink after Legs and Back, & Ab Ripper X.
Dinner: Tonight we are going to have more leftovers. I may have another fish taco with tuna, black beans, and salsa.
After-Dinner: Protein shake.
