P90X Upward Dog
I just completed day 22 of the P90X workout! Today I had to do Yoga X because it’s the first day of the Recovery week. It felt really strange doing Yoga X on a Sunday since I’m so used to doing Chest and Back, and Ab Ripper X. I felt like I should have been doing pull ups and push ups versus getting into Warrior One and Warrior Two poses. It was a calming workout though and I got through the entire P90X DVD.
I was able to get my wife to Yoga X with me. She’s pretty flexible and has done yoga before, so it wasn’t too hard for her (she just thinks it’s too long). I had her check out my poses to ensure I was doing them correctly. The one really easy pose that I had always thought I was doing correctly, I was doing wrong! I never noticed on the Upward Dog that the tops of your feet are supposed to be on the floor. I had always put my feet the opposite way; I put them on the floor and had the bottom of my toes touching the floor (if that makes any sense…I put them similar to how your feet are with Downward Dog, except my toes were just touching the floor). I guess that isn’t a huge deal. She also just said that I need to focus on keeping my arms and my legs straight during some of the poses. Other than that, she thought I did pretty good. I still have issues with the Half Moon and the Standing Splits, but I think those will come with time as my flexibility increases. Also, we both weren’t able to do the Crane. I’m determined to do that pose, so I really hope I can do it by the end of P90X!
Nutrition for today-
Breakfast: Bowl of Fiber One cereal, and a protein shake.
Mid-Morning: Protein shake.
Lunch: Turkey sandwich with lettuce, provolone cheese, and extra virgin olive oil dressing.
Mid-Afternoon: Protein shake.
Dinner: Tonight is going to be rough since it’s the Super Bowl!!! The one thing that isn’t too bad that I know we are having is chili. Also, my wife is making an artichoke dip (which I should probably stay away from), and I know there is going to be lots of deserts (brownies, cookies, etc.). Prior to changing my eating habits, deserts were always something that I overindulged in. It’s going to be a tough night with my P90X diet, but I’m really going to try to do my best. I may try to fill up before we go to the party so I’ll be full and won’t eat as much.
After-Dinner: Depending on how much junk I eat during the Super Bowl, I may not eat anything.
