P90X Week 5

Sorry for the long hiatus I’ve had from posting updates on my P90X workout blog!  The past few weeks have been absolutely crazy and I’m finally almost caught up on everything. I just finished my Coast Guard 2 weeks of active duty (I’m in the Coast Guard Reserves) on Friday. Also, this weekend a good buddy of mine got married. I was a Groomsmen in his wedding and it was a fun, action packed weekend. It’s nice though to finally be able to sit down and take a breath!

Honestly, this past week and this weekend was probably the hardest for me (my wife Jen said it was a very tough week for her as well) as far as sticking with the P90X diet, staying motivated, etc. I was pretty much expecting that since I knew it would be a crazy week and that I’d be surrounded by tons and tons of food and drinks (the 4 hour open bar at the wedding definitely didn’t help). I think despite all of the temptations and craziness, I still did somewhat good, but I know I could have done much better. I’m a perfectionist so not doing my best isn’t good enough for me. I guess I need to continually remind myself that I will fail and struggle at times. No matter how I look at it though, it never feels good to fail!

I don’t want to just look at the negative (we’re surrounded by enough of negativity), so a positive accomplishment from last week was that I finally was able to do a One-Arm Push-Up off of my knees during the Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps workout. I was only able to do 1 off of my knees, but I was still extremely excited since that’s the first time I’ve ever been able to do one. That shows me that my strength is definitely improving!

Since the wedding was on Sunday, my wife and I decided to make Sunday a rest day (there was literally no time to do the workout) and we pushed everything back a day. Next Sunday we’ll be back on our normal P90X schedule. Also, needless to say the Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps workout went pretty bad (my wife and I both only gave about 50% to that workout) since it was the day after the wedding and we were struggling to recover from it. We decided that during the next Recovery Week we would replace the first Yoga X with that workout. That probably isn’t necessary, but we both feel we need to redo that workout since we didn’t give 100%.

I hope everyone has had a great week so far with P90X , P90, or whatever workout you’re doing! Keep pushing play!
