Does P90X Work

I get people leaving comments and emailing me all the time asking me, “Does P90X work?” I get all kinds of variations of this “Does P90X work” question such as…Does P90X work if I don’t follow the nutrition guide? Does P90X work if I’m not trying to lose weight? Etc, etc, etc.

So, in this post I want to give you the low down on this P90X program. I’m going to answer some of the most common “Does P90X work” questions and most importantly, I’ll give you the scoop on whether P90X will for for YOU!

The Big Question Of The Day: Does P90X Work?

The short and sweet answer to “Does P90X work,” is – YES! But…and that is a massively BIG BUT! :-) It depends on YOU! It depends on if you give the program 100%. Giving 100% to the program means-

  1. That you do the workouts daily as the program is laid out (not cherry picking which workouts you do, or putting together your own random schedule),
  2. You do your best during the workouts, and
  3. You follow the P90X Nutrition Guide or some other healthy eating plan that works for you.

That is giving the program 100%. So you’re probably thinking…ok, so if I don’t give 100% then I won’t get results? For most people, that isn’t the case. P90X is a super extreme program. Just doing the workouts alone usually gives people insane results. However, if you want to get the best possible results, you want to get the EXTREME results (I’m talking results fit to be in the P90X infomercial), then you need to give it your all and give 100%.

Does P90X Work For Me?

I’ll be 100% honest with you. When I did P90X for the first time I didn’t give 100%. While I did do the workouts each day and give 100% to them, I didn’t follow the P90X Nutrition Guide like I should have. I cut out the junk and I tried to eat more healthy, but I could have done a lot better. Does P90X work for me? Did I get good results with P90X that 1st round? Yea I did…

During that round of P90X I lost 11 pounds, I got a six pack, I lose 2 inches in my waist, and I reduced my body fat by about 4.5%. So while my results were really good, they definitely could have been better. But you know what? I’m happy and content with those results.

Starting P90X and going through that first round (not to sound cliché) truly changed my life. I went from being a skinny fat, incredibly lazy, junk food monster eating guy, to a super fit, super healthy dude. I was the laziest person you’d ever meet before P90X, but now people know me as that fitness dude. I even made a business out of it and helping people is what I do full time! I never, ever in my wildest dreams imagined I’d be helping others to get fit and healthy full time.

So yes, P90X works for me, and it has changed my life!

This is a popular does P90X work question that I get all the time (maybe once a week or more). To answer this question, yes P90X can still work for you if you don’t follow the P90X Nutrition Guide. However, nutrition IS just as important as your P90X workouts. It’s actually 50% of the equation (doing your workouts is the other 50%). So if you’re not following the P90X Nutrition Guide then you need to follow some other similar eating plan.

Does P90X Work If I Don’t Follow ANY Eating Plan?

Ok Jonathan, I’m not going to follow the P90X Nutrition Guide, or any other alternative…So will P90X work for me? Maybe…maybe not! Like I mentioned earlier in this blog post doing the P90X workouts alone may give you results since they are extreme workouts. However, I couldn’t tell you what kind of results that you’d get. Your nutrition is critical and it can destroy any results that you would have gotten had you follow the Nutrition Guide or something similar.

Just suck it up, drop the excuses, and do whatever you need to do to cut out the junk, the soda, sweets, fried food, etc. Replace the junk with healthy alternatives. If you’re not willing to at least do that then you’re wasting your time!

Does P90X Work If I’m NOT Trying To Lose Weight?

Yep! P90X was designed for anyone…whether you are trying to lose weight, maintain your weight and just tone up, or to even bulk up and add some muscle. Inside the P90X Fitness Guide that you get when you buy P90X, they tell you how to do the program so you can accomplish whatever goals you are after. On top of that, Tony Horton (the guy behind P90X) re-iterates what you need to do to accomplish your goals (whatever they may be) during the actual workouts themselves.

Lets Wrap Things Up – Does P90X Work?

YES! BUT…to what degree it works depends on you! If you want extreme results…you want to lose as much weight as possible, you want to get a ripped as possible, or you just want to maintain your weight and get as toned up as possible, then give 100% and follow the program as it’s designed.

Just think about and imagine what accomplishing your goals will do for your life. Will hitting your goals allow you to play with your kids longer? Will it make you for once in your life feel good about your body? Will it make your friends just totally envy your hot body? What will having a healthy, fit body do for you? Think about that…

How To Start P90X

I see SOO many people jumping into P90X without doing the critical steps that they need to do so that they set themselves up for success. There is no beating around the bush. P90X is an EXTREME program. This isn’t some type of fad workout, or one of those goofy 80’s dance workouts. This is an extreme program that gives extreme results. Period.

However, you will only get those extreme results if you follow the program as it’s laid out and you do ALL 90 days! Doing a few weeks or even a month and then quitting won’t give you results. Doing whatever workouts you feel like doing whenever you can won’t give you the results. Ok, maybe you’ll get some results, but definitely NOT the kind of results if you had followed the program as it’s laid out (that includes the workouts AND the nutrition!).

So…if you’re absolutely serious about losing the weight. If you’re absolutely serious about getting toned, getting ripped, or even bulking up…If you’re absolutely serious about getting into the best shape of your life so you can live a long, happy, healthy life with your kids (or future kids), with your spouse (or future spouse), and with your family and friends, then it will behoove you to follow these steps on how to start P90X the RIGHT way.

How To Start P90X (and Finish) The Right Way

I’m going to try to keep this page as brief as possible and literally give you step by step instructions on how to start P90X with links to resources that have videos, PDF’s, etc. to give you every leg up possible to ensure your success.

STEP 1 – Create A Free TBB Account For Free Coaching.

This is a no brainer. By clicking the above link and creating a free Team Beachbody account you’ll get an extra layer of support and motivation that you’ll need to ensure you stick with P90X. You’ll get ME as your personal success Coach, and you’ll get access to some free tools that you’re going to need to get yourself started right. So don’t think about this step, just do it.

STEP 2 – Read Through The P90X Fitness Guide AND the P90X Nutrition Guide.

A lot of people don’t do this, and then they don’t have a clue about anything. Those guide are there for a reason! Read them from cover to cover.

If you don’t have the P90X Fitness Guide, then my blog is going to become your best friend. Use this page as your road map to starting P90X the right way.

STEP 3 – Confirm You Have All The Required Equipment.

You need to do this step ASAP in case you need to order any equipment or supplements (so you leave yourself some time for shipping). You also don’t want to start doing the workouts, and then you say “OOOOPPPPS, I don’t have X piece of equipment so I can’t do X exercises.” That’s just going to derail your progress with the program.

STEP 4 – Take Your Measurements AND Your Before Pictures.

I’m not going to explain why this is important, actually I’m going to YELL and say…JUST TAKE DO THIS! DON’T SKIP THIS STEP!

STEP 5 – Take The Fit Test

You shouldn’t skip ANY of these steps, but this is another common thing people skip (really just out of laziness). I’m not going to yell this time :-), rather I’m just going to give you a page that will tell you how to do it. Just do it.

STEP 6 – Decide Which P90X Schedule You Are Going To Do & Print Out The Worksheets

There are 3 different workout schedules of P90X that you can do. You need to pick which one you are going to do, and you need to print out the work sheets so you can track your progress.

STEP 7 – Figure Out Your #’s, Clean Out Your Kitchen, & Go Grocery Shopping.

Your nutrition is JUST as important as your workouts. It’s basically like an equation…Your workouts + Your Nutrition = You Meeting Your Goals. Proper nutrition is FIFTY percent of that equation. So here’s what you need to do-

  • Based on your goals (whether you are trying to lose weight, maintain weight and just get toned, or to even bulk up) you need to figure out your numbers (calories, protein, carbs, & fat) – How Many Calories Should I Eat A Day.
  • You need to keep a food journal for at least a week to confirm you’re not over eating or under eating – How To Keep A Food Diary.
  • Then you need to RID your house of ALL of the junk, and go grocery shopping and purchase foods based on the P90X Nutrition Guide or the alternative resources I gave you in Step 2.

STEP 8 – Proclaim Your Start Date & Give Us Daily Updates.

It’s proven that people who tell other people that they are going to do something, are MUCH more likely to actually do that something and follow through. Also, the people who commit to giving our community daily updates whether here on my blog, or on our Facebook page are more likely to stick with it.  So here’s what you need to do.

  • Leave a comment below and let me know your start date for starting P90X. THEN come back to this page and reply to your comment and tell us how your first workout went.
  • Next, give us daily or at a MINIMUM weekly updates here on our Facebook page – Trek2BeFit Facebook Page.

STEP 9 – Share Your Results.

The people who go through ALL 90 days MUST be recognized! The fact that you just completed such an extreme program is something you should be so freakin proud of. Send me an email and tell me your results. I may even want to feature you here on my blog to share with the community of 90,000+ (and growing) visitors and members. I may also eventually create a separate page to feature everyone’s P90X results.

At The End Of Each Phase & At The End Of P90X

Make sure at the end of each phase that you re-take your measurements, and your pictures. Also, at the end of 90 days, re-take your measurements, your pictures, AND the P90X fit test. This will help give you some added motivation, will help keep you going, and will allow you to see if you are going in the right direction or if you need to make adjustments to your nutrition.

You looking for the P90X workout schedule? If so, then you’re at the right place! On this page I’m going to give you way more than just the P90X workout schedule. I’m going to explain the different versions of P90X, I’m going to help you decide which version is best for you, and I’m going to help set you up for success so that you complete ALL 90 days of the program.

The fact of the matter is, if you don’t finish all 90 days of the program, then the likelihood of you accomplishing your goals (your whole reasons for doing P90X) will be slim to none.

So how bad do you want to accomplish those goals? How bad do you want to lose the weight, get toned, or get ripped? How bad do you want to get into the best shape of your life so that you can live as long, healthy of a life possible? If you really, truly want to accomplish your goals then read this “P90X workout schedule” post for beginning to end and TAKE ACTION!

What Is The P90X Workout Schedule?

Believe it or not I get calls from people saying, “So I’m not supposed to just do the DVD’s whenever I feel like it?” I even get people surprised to know that there is a P90X workout schedule. This is usually because they’ve been given the DVD’s by a friend, or they bought an incomplete package off of Amazon, Ebay, Craigslist, etc. Or, they’ve illegally burned the DVD’s, or illegally downloaded P90X from the Internet. Don’t worry, I’m not going to judge you for doing that. Your day will come! :-) Just kidding!

There are actually 3 different P90X workout schedules. During each P90X workout schedule you’re doing the P90X workout DVD’s in different orders. Here they are-

1) P90X Classic

2) P90X Lean

3) P90X Doubles

So the big question is, which P90X workout schedule should YOU do?

Alright, so I’m going to go through each of the P90X workout schedules, I’ll tell you a little bit about each one, and tell you who should do what…

P90XWho Should Do The P90X Classic?

As the name implies, this is the classic version or the version that most people do. It’s the most all around P90X workout schedule. You can do this version whether you are trying to lose weight, just trying to get toned, trying to maintain your weight, and you can use it get ripped and add some size.

Men AND women do this version. I get a lot of emails from women who are scared to do this version because they are worried they are going to add a bunch of muscles like Popeye the Sailor man. Don’t worry! Tony Horton (the goofy guy who leads P90X) will tell you how to do the exercises so you don’t bulk up and add size.

So who is this P90X workout schedule for? It’s really for anyone!

Who Should Do The P90X Lean?

The P90X lean version is a more cardio based version. While you are still doing weight training like in P90X Classic, you just aren’t doing as much and you’re doing more cardio. This version is popular with women (but both men AND women can do it) since it seems like a lot of women prefer less resistance exercises like pull ups, push ups, etc. That of course isn’t always the case since my wife went through P90X Classic and she loved it.

This version is also great if it’s been years, and years since you’ve worked out. This will give you an opportunity to build up to doing the P90X Classic version. By the way if you’re trying to add size with this version, it won’t happen, so just do the P90X Classic if you’re trying to accomplish that.

So who is this P90X workout schedule for? It’s for anyone who prefers a more cardio based schedule or for beginners who want to somewhat ease themselves into P90X.

Who Should Do The P90X Doubles?

As this P90X workout schedule states, you are doubling up some of the workouts. Sounds crazy huh? :-)  In month 2 and 3 on many of the P90X workout days you’ll be doing TWO workouts!

This P90X workout schedule is obviously NOT for beginners. It is for people who have already done P90X Classic, or who are already very, very physically active.

Since you’re doubling the workouts in months 2 and 3 you need to have at least 2 hours on those days to invest in yourself. So before jumping on this version, make sure you have the time, and make sure you really are ready for it.

P90X Before PicturesTaking your P90X measurements and your P90X before pictures are so so SOOO, very important! This is a critical step that a lot of people skip. They get so excited about starting P90X that they jump right into the workouts without doing the prep work. This is a BIG no no since the people that skip this step are usually the people that end up quitting and not finishing the program (and therefore NOT accomplishing their goals). DON’T become one of those people! Take the 10 or 15 minutes that it takes to do these easy, simple steps so that you are more likely to complete all 90 days of P90X and accomplish your goals whether it be to lose weight, get toned, or even to get ripped and bulked up.

So read on, because I’ll give you a few more reasons why you MUST take your P90X measurements and your P90X before pictures, and I’ll also tell you exactly how to take them.

Why Take Your P90X Measurements & P90X Before Pictures?

P90X MeasurementsI already mentioned the first reason above, which is to make it more likely that you’ll stick with P90X and follow through with the program. Another more obvious reason you should take them is so you can track your progress with the program and make adjustments when needed. You should re-take your P90X before pictures and your P90X measurements every 30 days (or at the end of each Phase). By doing so you’ll know if you’re headed in the right direct or not.

If your goal is to drop the inches/lose weight, and you take your P90X measurements to find out that you’re actually gaining weight and your measurements are increasing, then you know that you are doing something wrong. This is more then likely a result of your nutrition. To lose weight/drop inches you have to make sure you are eating healthy food and you’ve got to have a calorie deficit (meaning you are burning more calories then you are taking in).

Another reason why you must take your P90X measurements and your P90X before pictures is to help motivate you and it’s just a signal to yourself that you are serious about doing the program (and thus you will be more likely to stick with it). For most people, taking their before pictures and measurements is usually NOT a fun process. But it’s a good process to go through because it’s a reality check. It forces you to see where you are truly at with your health/physical fitness. For me and a majority of people seeing those before pics and measurements it’s a HUGE motivator. When I sat down and looked at my pics and measurements, I knew at that very point this is what I needed to do. How To Take Your P90X Measurements

Enough of the pep talk, let’s get into the nitty gritty. I found this video that tells you exactly how to take your measurements. This is how exactly how I take mine and how you should take yours-

The only thing that I don’t use is a body fat caliper. Using a body fat caliper is more accurate for figuring out your body fat percentage, but I just like to keep it simple so I just make note of my weight. I then can plugin my height and weight into the calculator within my Team Beachbody Account (you can create a Free Team Beachbody Account here to get access to the calculator) and BAM! I’ve got my body fat percentage.

Also, you’ll obviously want to make sure you record your results. Just grab a blank sheet of paper and write the date, and record your measurements. Hold onto this sheet and don’t lose it. You may want to create a P90X Binder like I did. Go here to learn more about that – P90X Workout Sheets.

How To Take Your P90X Before Pictures

Now it’s time to take your P90X before pictures. This typically isn’t fun for most people, but it needs to be done. Just do it!! Check out the following video; it will walk you through step by step on how to take your P90X before pictures-

At the end of 90 days with P90X you’ll be re-taking the P90X Fitness Test which will show you how much you’ve improved as a result of the program.

Who Should Take The P90X Fitness Test?

You’ll want to take the P90X Fit Test if you are starting P90X, but also if you just aren’t sure what program to do. Many times, people aren’t sure if they should do P90X, Insanity, or even Power 90. Taking the P90X Fit test is a great way to help you figure out what to do. If you totally bomb the test, then more then likely you aren’t ready for Insanity or P90X. In that case, you should do Power 90 first, and then move on to P90X or Insanity.

Helpful Tips To Keep In Mind For The P90X Fitness Test

Here’s a few tips and suggestions that will help you to make the best of the P90X Fit Test.

  • Take the P90X Fitness Test about a week before starting P90X. This will make sure you aren’t going into the program sore. You’ll also obviously not want to take the P90X Fit Test if you’re muscles are sore. You want to be well rested so you can do your best.
  • Give yourself about an hour to do the test. You want to give yourself plenty of time so you’re not rushing through it or doing it halfway.
  • Make sure to read through the P90X Fit Test instructions (a download PDF can be found below) prior to taking the test and to record all of your results on it. It’s usually easier if you have a buddy help you with it so they can record your results.
  • Be honest with your results and how you do. This test is for YOU, so don’t exaggerate your numbers just so they look good on paper.

STEP 1: Download the P90X Fitness Test PDF by CLICKING HERE.

Download and print out the P90X Fitness Test PDF. As mentioned above, make sure you read through this guide front to back so you’re not fumbling around when you take the actual test. This is where you’ll write down your results. If you don’t know how to do a particular move, no problem I’ve got you covered (see step 2)!

STEP 2: Check Out The Below Video For A Walk-through Of How To Do The P90X Fitness Test.

If you’re confident and know how to do the P90X Fitness Test after just reading through the PDF guide, then feel free to skip this step. But if you’re not sure, then definitely watch it-

STEP 3: Take The P90X Fitness Test!

It’s go time! Take the P90X Fitness Test and make sure to remember the helpful tips I mentioned above. Also, if you end up doing a move differently, take notes on how you do it. It’s really important that you do this so that when you re-take the fit test at the end of your 90 days you do it the same exact way (so you get an accurate picture of your improvements).

STEP 4: Create Your Free Account & Contact Me If You Need Help.

What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

So what equipment do you need for P90X? I’m assuming that you’ve obviously committed to starting P90X, so CONGRATS! The P90X workout is an incredible program that has changed my life (not to sound cliché) and it has transformed tens of thousands (if not hundreds and hundreds of thousands) of other people’s lives. I’ve been doing the program for over a year and a half now and I’m truly in the best shape of my life because of it.

If you are serious about getting the results you want with the program, then you must be prepared and have everything you need to do the program before you actually start. You don’t want to not be able to do some of the workouts or exercises because you don’t have the equipment that you need for P90X. “What equipment do you need for P90X,” is a question I get all the time so I’m going to go over exactly that in this blog post!

REQUIRED – What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

This is the equipment that you MUST have at the very bare minimum in order to do P90X.

  1. The P90X DVD’s (P90X Training System): This comes with the 12 workout DVD’s, the P90X Nutrition Guide, and the Fitness Guide.
  2. Dumbbells OR Resistance Bands: You need either one of these to be able to do the program. The resistance bands are great if you travel a lot, or just don’t have a lot of room to store equipment (plus they are cheaper too). One really isn’t better than the other, it’s more of a matter of personal preference.
  3. P90X Pull Up Bar OR Resistance Bands Door Attachment Kit: If you don’t have have a door frame in your home that you can install a pull up bar on, then you’ll have to get a set of resistance bands and the door attachment kit. I highly recommend though that you do whatever you can to get a pull up bar or a pull up stand since you’ll get a much better workout in my opinion by doing the pull ups.
  4. Free Team Beachbody Account: This isn’t a piece of equipment, rather this is a free account where you will be able to track your workouts and get access to all kinds of other really helpful tools (and an entire community of people) to help support you and keep you motivated. WARNING – What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

pirated P90XI did want to note that I highly, highly recommend that you purchase your P90X set direct from the manufacturer here- P90X Training System. I don’t recommend that you borrow it from a friend and burn yourself a copy, that you download a pirated copy, or that you buy it from a site promising to sell it to you at a crazy low price (the only legit price for just the P90X Training System is $119.95; any cheaper is a scam). Why? Because I get emails everyday from people asking me, how do I get start with P90X? What do I need to eat during P90X? The first thing I ask them is if they read the P90X Fitness Guide and the P90X Nutrition Guide that comes with the program. The answer I usually get is, “What guides?” By purchasing the program anywhere else other then from the manufacturer here, you may or may not get all of the workout DVD’s, and you may or may not get the Nutrition & Fitness Guides (or you’ll get a counterfeited version that has poorly translated English).

The people that get their copy of P90X for free (by downloading or copying a pirated version) are also the people who usually end up quitting the program and never accomplishing their goals. Why?!? Because again you may or may not have all of the workouts (you won’t have the guides), and most people don’t truly appreciate the things they get for free. Get some skin in the game, suck it up, and buy yourself a legit copy of P90X! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Ok…I’m getting down from my soapbox now.

Optional, But Recommend – What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

This is the equipment that is optional, but I highly recommend that you get.

  1. Yoga Mat: If you have hardwood floors, then this is required otherwise you’ll be in a lot of pain when doing the floor exercises. I have carpeted floors, but I still use a mat since having the carpet rub against my skin is annoying.
  2. P90X Recovery Drink: This will help to reduce muscle soreness and to help you recover faster after your workouts. It will give your body the nutrients that it needs after a crazy intense workout like P90X. This really helped me to get through my first round of P90X, but I still use it today because it works great. It’s optional, but I highly recommend it.

Up To You – What Equipment Do You Need For P90X

This is the equipment that is really up to you if you get and some of it is based on your situation.

  1. Yoga Blocks: If you’re a beginner at Yoga (or have never done it before) like I was when I started P90X, then these are a must have. You’ll be using these so you’re not falling all over your living room trying to get into the Yoga poses.
  2. Push Up Bars: If you have wrist issues, then these are a must have since they will help to alleviate stress on your wrist joints when you’re doing pushups. I use these and I’m able to do push ups with no pain in my wrists.
  3. Heart Rate Monitor: This will allow you to track your heart rate to make sure you aren’t over working yourself and going into the danger zone as well as to make sure you aren’t slacking off. I have one of these, but I definitely don’t use it like I should.
  4. Whey Protein: If you’re trying to build muscle, then this is a must have. You have to make sure you take in enough protein (which is usually pretty hard with whole foods alone). Protein will help you to build muscle and to burn more fat. Having a protein smoothie is also a great healthy snack option when you need something easy and quick.

How To Keep Yourself Organized – P90X Workout Sheets

One key component to making your life easier while doing P90X is to stay organized! What I did and what has worked for me, is to create a P90X Binder. I put together a short video where I go over how to put this binder together, and where to put your P90X workout schedule, P90X fit test results, etc. Check out the video now-

What You Need To Do Next – P90X Workout Sheets

Once you have downloaded the P90X workout sheets, the P90X calendar, and you have put together your P90X binder, it is now time that you do the Fit test and choose which P90X workout routine that you’re going to do. There are 3 version of P90X and the P90X workout guide explains them all, but I’ll briefly go over them.

  • P90X Classic – As the name implies, this is the P90X Classic schedule is what most people typically do. It is a good well rounded version with resistance training and cardio. It is VERY intense, so if it’s been years, and years since you’ve worked out or done a push up or pull up, then you may want to consider starting with the P90X Lean.
  • P90X Lean – This version is focused more towards the cardio. It is great for people who are looking to lose weight, get toned or who are getting back into fitness after a long hiatus. It is still VERY intense, so just do your best and don’t worry about anything else!
  • P90X Doubles – This is an ultra intense version and as the name implies, you’ll actually be doing TWO workouts starting phase 2 of the program. This is obviously NOT for beginners and only for people who have the time they can invest in themselves and who really want to push themselves.

Which P90X workout routine that you do is ultimately up to you and depends on your fitness level and the goals you are trying to accomplish. If you are unsure, then I recommend starting with the P90X Lean. If after 30 days of doing P90X lean you find the P90X workout routine to be easy, then you may want to go ahead and move on and start the P90X Classic version.

I tend to get quite a bit of questions on the P90X Nutrition Guide so I figured it was about time that I put together a blog post on it. On this page I’ll let you know if it is really worth the time and effort to follow it, and I’ll go over some solutions if you lost your P90X Nutrition Guide, or your friend stole it, etc.

P90X Nutrition Guide – Should You Follow It?

The very short and sweet answer to if you should follow the P90X Nutrition Guide is YES! Here’s the long and very blunt and honest answer…If you are TRULY serious about getting results with the P90X workout, then you MUST follow the P90X Nutrition guide or some other high protein, clean and healthy eating plan (I’ll go over a few P90X Nutrition Plan alternatives later in this post). Following a healthy eating plan is JUST as important as doing your daily P90X workouts.

I think too often we tend to look for the easiest route possible or we try to cut corners and do just enough when we attempt to conquer any issue that we have (I’m guilty of it). People will make excuses like, I don’t have the money to eat healthy, I don’t have the time to follow an eating plan, or it’s too complicated, or I’ll start next week, blah, blah, BLAH! Those are just excuses to try to make yourself feel better about not taking action and just doing it. I should know, since I made those excuses for years and years before finally dropping the excuses and just doing it.

So now you know the answer on if you should follow the P90X Nutrition Guide. The choice is now YOURS! If you truly want to lose that weight, to feel good about yourself, to ensure you see your kids get married, or to accomplish whatever your “Why” is for getting fit and health, then you need to just drop the excuses and make things happen!

Half Cleaned CarCome On Jonathan, Can’t I Get Results With P90X Without Following The P90X Nutrition Guide?

I get this question a lot too, so let me answer it for you. Of course you can get results with P90X without following the P90X Workout Nutrition Guide! OR you may not get any results at all. Who knows! A lot of people do tend to still get some results, but again it depends. My question for you is, why would you invest so much time, hard work, sweat and energy into getting fit and healthy, but only do 50% of what you should be doing? That’s like going out to wash your car, and only washing HALF of the car. It does look good on the one side you washed, but it looks pretty crappy on the other side. Why even bother and only wash half of your car in the first place?

The same goes for P90X and not following the P90X diet guide. You may get some results, but think what kind of results you would have gotten if you followed the P90X Nutrition Guide in conjunction with your workouts. So again, just suck it up and follow the P90X Nutrition Guide so that you maximize your P90X results!

It will also re-teach you how to eat properly so when you go out and about you know how to chose the good healthy options.

Power 90 vs P90X

Power 90 vs P90X! I get a lot of questions from people asking me which program is better and what program they should start with. I’ll first get the “which program is better” question out of the way. When it comes to Power 90 vs P90X I don’t think either one is better than the other. They are both awesome fitness programs done by the same fitness trainer, Tony Horton. The important question that you should be concerned with and that really matters in the Power 90 vs P90X debate is which program should YOU do.

I’m first going to go into an overview of each fitness program, and then I’ll give you 3 simple questions to ask yourself that will help you determine which program is right for you.

Overview of Power 90 – Power 90 vs P90X

Power 90 is an in home fitness program “boot camp” that is designed to help people lose weight, get toned or to just get fit in only 90 days. This program is the predecessor to the P90X program and is more for beginners or for people just getting back into fitness. It’s a very simple program to follow that targets specific muscle groups during each workout to turn your body into a fat burning furnace.

The program starts out with fairly easy cardio and strength moves and the workouts are about 30 minutes a day in the beginning. As the program progresses, the difficulty of the workouts increase, and the length of the workouts increase as well (up to about 45 minutes).

Power 90 Pros – Power 90 vs P90X

  • It’s a great program for anyone who wants to lose weight, get fit, or get toned, but who maybe are not quite ready for an extreme fitness program like P90X.
  • It’s a great program for people who don’t have a lot of time to devote to their workouts. The workouts are 30 minutes up to 45 minutes.
  • The program doesn’t require a lot of equipment. All you need are a set of dumbbells OR a set of resistance bands.
  • This is a very inexpensive fitness program.

Power 90 Cons – Power 90 vs P90X

  • It might be a little too easy for people who’ve been working out for a while (using heavier dumbbells will help to solve this issue).
  • This workout program was produced quite awhile ago, which is obvious from the set and animations used during the program. This however has no effect on the actual exercises or the level or workout you’ll get.

  • Tony Horton really makes the workouts fun and excited to do each day (that’s a personal opinion of mine, but one that a lot of people share).
  • The program comes with 3 different workout schedules for you to follow depending on your fitness goals and level of fitness.

P90X Cons – Power 90 vs P90X

  • This program does require more equipment and thus more of an investment on your part (get the complete equipment list here – P90X Equipment).
  • Since this is an extreme program, the workouts are longer. The amount of time you spend working out on most days will typically be around 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes (there is one day though that you’ll be working out for 1 hour and 30 minutes).
  • It’s a little more expensive than the Power 90 program.

  1. Would you consider yourself to be a beginner when it comes to working out and eating healthy?
  2. Has it been over 1 year since you’ve consistently worked out?
  3. If you were tasked to do the hardest workout program that you’ve ever in your life before, would you likely end up quitting if your muscles were sore just about every day for the first few weeks (are you mentally prepared for an extreme program)?

If you answered YES to any or all of the questions above, then you should likely just start with Power 90.

Still Not Sure What Program To Do? – Power 90 vs P90X

If you still aren’t sure what program to do when it comes to Power 90 vs P90X, then it’s time that you find out exactly what fitness level you are at. So go ahead and devote 30 to 45 minutes to taking the P90X Fit Test. This is the test that you should take BEFORE you start P90X to determine if you’re ready for the program and to help track your results with the program.

If you failed the Fit Test, or didn’t do so well, then that is OK! You just need to get yourself into better shape before starting P90X. At this time, Power 90 is the right program for you. Go ahead and order Power 90, go through the program, and then re-take the P90X Fit Test before starting P90X.
